FATSHION FEBRUARY, DAY 1! ~ Spots & Stripes
Dress - TU @ Sainsburys, Cardi - Primark, Necklace - Betsey Johnson, Shoes - Converse
So, the awesome Fatshion February is finally here! I’m going to attempt to post what i’m wearing each day (might be a bit ambitious, but we’ll see!). I’m excited about getting back in to the swing of taking OOTD photos and posting here again :).
lace blouse - Dorothy Perkins
sweater - Ralph Lauren
pants - C&A
shoes - Chloé
bracelet - Debenhams
earrings - don’t remember
So a couple of weeks ago I wrote to Arcadia asking why they had closed the Leeds branch of Evans because it was quite a decently sized shop and it seemed mad to close it when Leeds has two branches of Dorothy Perkins and two branches of Topshop. Why close the only plus size shop? This morning, I got a reply!
Yeah, so not only have they missed the point (I put in my original letter that I didn’t like shopping online as much as actually being able to go into a store and try stuff on), they have not even bothered to address my criticism of the logic of shutting Evans down whilst keeping two Topshops and two Dorothy Perkins open. And of course they didn’t mention my main point, which was that maybe they should think about extending the sizes in said other stores to the point where we wouldn’t need to shop in a “special” shop.
As for the “commercial reasons” I can only assume that Evans is not making as much money as Arcadia’s other shops. And I think I know why that is. It’s because it’s old fashioned, expensive, crap with the occasional good pair of shoes or basic pair of jeans. If they made fashionable clothes, the kind that you can get in Topshop except in bigger sizes, they would probably make a fortune. I for one, would buy anything from a range like that in a heartbeat.
In short, Evans, you suck. Sort it out.
I used to work in the Leeds store and even 2 years ago it was going under spectacularly, I’m surprised it lasted so long after I left to be honest. Nobody ever shopped there and they were making a loss every single day. But the reason for that is just as you said, they make dull and disgusting clothing so even in all the time I’ve lived here and its existed I’ve probably shopped there a handful of times (it sucked that even when they did get it right by collaborating with Beth Ditto the range wasn’t stocked in the Leeds store.)
The thing that’s infuriated me more than it shutting down is that’s its been converted into a Topman, and the big Dorothy Perkins on the top of Briggate has been converted into a Topshop, on top of that the Leeds New Look store has stopped stocking the Inspire range so there is now NO plus-size shopping within the city centre. WHY DO THEY NEED THREE TOPSHOPS? Because it makes money that’s why, I dunno why I’m expecting Philip Green the tax dodging con-man to care that I can’t fit my fat ass into his most popular stores clothing, cos he clearly won’t.

so day one of fatshion february is a shitty photo because it’s hot and I’m exhausted. Please enjoy!

Its getting so close to Plus London now I am starting to freak the hell out, I’m really excited to meet all the gorgeous blogger babes that are on the guest list but also nervous because it means I’m gonna be in London alone, and I’m really not a massive fan of the capital because its so big and busy and just generally scary.
I’ve also got just tomorrow evening to sort everything I’m taking out, finalise my outfits (I’m having wobbles over whether what I’ve chosen is going to look any good) and I also need to purchase an overnight bag to shove it all in.
I’m also really excited about the start of Fatshion February despite not participating today, I’m gonna try my best.
FATSHION FEBRUARY: DAY 1 // Rock and roll or something
Hoodie - Primark, skirt - H&M, tights - George @ Asda, knee high socks - Primark, shoes - New Look, headband - ASOS, earrings - bought at a music festival
Yaaay, Fatshion February’s back! I’m really excited for the challenge of putting together and photographing interesting outfits. This time of year’s always miserable and FatFeb gives me a reason to actually take care of myself for a month. That said, today’s outfit is super lazy - I’m having a study day and it’s like -2 degrees outside so I just wanted to be warm and comfortable.
